Anantara Announces New General Manager Appointments Across Thailand
James Hewitson, Andrea Orrú and Graeme Ure
Bangkok, August 2019: Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas announces a number of new General Managers to properties across Thailand. From the palm fringed shores of Hua Hin, Phuket, and Koh Phangan, responsibilities for all General Managers include managing daily operations, developing key business strategies and establishing the properties as leaders of quintessential Thai hospitality.
James Hewitson newly appointed Cluster General Manager at Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas and Anantara Vacation Club Khao Phuket.
A familiar face to Anantara, British national James Hewitson first joined the brand in 2011. His extensive knowledge and expertise is top-class boasting eight years working with Anantara, and a total of 27 years in the hospitality industry. The tri-linguist who speaks fluent English, French and Arabic has worked across the Middle East, Europe and South East Asia.
James joined Anantara as Executive Assistant Manager of Anantara Lawana Resort and Spa in Koh Samui in 2011. He later oversaw the pre-opening of Anantara Dubai The Palm Resort as Resident Manager. In 2014 he undertook the role of Task Force General Manager for the pre-opening of Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas and Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara. A year later, James assumed the role of General Manager for Al Baleed Resort Salalah by Anantara, where he spent over 4 years successfully managing the resort and garnering fantastic regional and international awards and recognition. James is thrilled to return to Thailand to take on his next role with Anantara.
Andrea Orrú is announced General Manager at Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan Villas.
Andrea began his fruitful hospitality career in 1999, and has mustered a wealth of international experience during this time for esteemed hotel groups around the globe. With 20 years of experience under his belt, Andrea is a proven passionate and results driven General Manager.
In 2013, Andrea joined Anantara and assumed the role of Resort Manager at Anantara Veli Maldives Resort, and sister property Naladhu Private Island Resort. Following a number of successful years and many industry accolades he moved to Koh Samui where he continued his journey as Resort Manager of Anantara Bophut Koh Samui Resort and Anantara Vacation Club Bophut Koh Samui. After enjoying 2 years of resort life, he then moved to South Korea where he undertook the role of Task Force General Manager for Avani Central Busan, and soon after assumed the role of Acting General Manager for three resorts in the Maldives, Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort, Anantara Veli Maldives Resort and Naladhu Private Island Resort.
Graeme Ure welcomed as General Manager at Anantara Hua Hin Resort.
Graeme Ure started his international career in the food and beverage industry. Working in the Middle East, Sri Lanka, the Maldives and South East Asia, he has earned an excellent reputation as a highly respected and professional business leader.
In 2013, Graeme joined Anantara as F&B Executive Assistant Manager at Anantara the Palm Dubai Resort. After this successful assignment, he moved to Sri Lanka where he joined the task force team for the pre-opening of Anantara Kalutara Resort. Following his time in Sri Lanka, Graeme assumed the role of Executive Assistant Manager at Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara. In 2018, Graeme relocated to Thailand where he undertook the role of Resident Manager at Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort. His outstanding performance and dedication during his tenure led him to his well-deserved promotion to General Manager at Anantara Hua Hin Resort.
