With nearly two decades of experience in airport management, H.E. Al Midfa has become a central figure in the development of Sharjah's aviation and hospitality sectors, driving innovation, growth, and excellence across the board.
As the Chairman of Sharjah International Airport Authority, H.E. Al Midfa oversees an institution that has evolved from its modest beginnings in 1932 to become a modern, world-class airport. Sharjah International Airport is now renowned for its cutting-edge facilities, superior customer service, and commitment to sustainability. The airport's strategic flexibility, competitive pricing, and responsiveness to the needs of airlines and passengers have cemented its place as a key hub in the region. This evolution reflects H.E. Al Midfa's vision to meet and exceed the growing demands of the aviation industry with continuous improvements in infrastructure and technology.
In addition to his role at the airport, H.E. Al Midfa holds several other leadership positions, including Second Vice President of the Airports Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific Region, Chairman of Sharjah Aviation Services (SAS), Chairman of Dufry Sharjah, and Chairman of Sharjah Airport Travel Agency (SATA). He also contributes significantly to the local community through his involvement in various bodies, such as the Board of Trustees of Skyline University College and the Higher Committee for Human Resources in Sharjah.
H.E. Al Midfa's leadership was put to the test during the global COVID-19 pandemic. Faced with unprecedented challenges, Sharjah International Airport swiftly implemented new safety protocols, ensuring the health and well-being of passengers and employees alike. Al Midfa's ability to lead with agility during this time played a crucial role in the airport's continued operations.
Despite the difficulties, the airport achieved significant milestones, including receiving the Green Airport Silver Recognition for its water management efforts and becoming the first carbon-neutral airport in the GCC. It achieved Level 3+ Neutrality under ACI's Airport Carbon Accreditation Programme. These accomplishments underscore H.E. Al Midfa's dedication to sustainability and environmental responsibility, which are central to his leadership philosophy.
