Akshi Singh Recognized in Hozpitality's Best 30 Housekeeping Leaders in the Middle East for 2024
Akshi Singh, Cluster Director of Housekeeping at Crowne Plaza, and Holiday Inn Al-Thuraya City Kuwait has been mentioned as one of the best 30 housekeeping leaders in the Middle East on Hozpitality's prestigious power list.
This initiative by the Hozpitality Group highlights talented and skilled professionals who significantly contribute to their company's success. Akshi's determination, exceptional skills, and outstanding management abilities earned her this nomination, and she ultimately secured her place on the list through the highest number of votes from industry peers and colleagues.
Hailing from an army background and a mother of two, Akshi graduated from the renowned IHMCTAN Mumbai, India, in 1992. Her career began at OSHM as a management trainee, and she spent nine years with the prestigious Oberoi chain (The Oberoi Towers, The Oberoi New Delhi, The Trident Jaipur, and The Wildflower Hall). She then moved on to Hyatt Hotels, contributing to the opening of Park Hyatt Goa, Grand Hyatt Mumbai, Park Hyatt Saigon, and Hyatt Regency Hua Hin, Vietnam. In the Middle East, Akshi joined the IHG group of hotels and has managed three properties as Cluster Director for the last 16 years. She is also a pre-opening specialist, having worked on hotel openings in Vietnam, Thailand, Sri Lanka, India, and the Gulf countries.
Under her leadership, IHG Hotels in Kuwait are regarded as innovators and leaders in the hospitality industry. Akshi leads one of the largest and most effective housekeeping teams in the region, revolutionizing operations with her out-of-the-box thinking. Her focus on guest experience, innovation, training, and growth has produced remarkable results in both guest and team management, setting new benchmarks over the past year. Akshi is known for her exceptional time management skills, attention to detail, astute financial management, and effective guest and internal team relations.
She has undertaken numerous housekeeping activities, audited housekeeping standards internationally, and written articles to promote sustainability, encourage collaboration, and share best practices among housekeepers in Kuwait. As a 2023 RISE candidate (Women in Leadership) by IHG, Akshi has been recognized for her leadership qualities and potential for growth within the company. She has received several prestigious awards, including the Hotelier Middle East Award, MECHF Award, Service Excellence Award, Best Regional Housekeeper Award, and Power Woman in Cleaning in the Middle East.
In addition to her professional achievements, Akshi is the President of the Housekeepers Association in Kuwait and the Sustainability Champion of Kuwait. She has traveled to Vietnam and Sri Lanka to give talks on sustainability and is part of the organizing committee for HORECA in Kuwait. Her dedication to her field and passion for sustainability continues to inspire and lead the way in the hospitality industry.
