Capital holds events, entertainment and activities to mark the Kingdom’s 88th National Day
Events organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi and government and private sector partners
In celebration of the strong ties between the UAE and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), together with partners from the government and private sectors in Abu Dhabi, marked Saudi National Day with a variety of memorable experiences across the capital. Saudi audiences, as well as visitors, expats and Emiratis enjoyed an exciting line-up of activities across the emirate between 20th – 23rd September.
DCT Abu Dhabi organised spectacular displays of fireworks on 23rd September on the Corniche - where over 8,000 fireworks designed to feature the colours of the Saudi flag were set off – and also at Yas Marina on Yas Island, organized by Miral.
Key tourist attractions on Yas Island, including Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi and Yas Hotel, joined in with green-themed lighting to celebrate the day.
In addition, the Department, in collaboration with participating retailers across the emirate, launched the ‘Glam Nation: Saudi Arabia National Day’ event. The retail promotion, which ran on all four days, offered shoppers 100AED mall vouchers for every 500AED spent on Health & Beauty/Cosmetics/Perfume & Oud products across 183 stores and 400 international brands at six malls across Abu Dhabi, including Al Wahda Mall, Yas Mall, Marina Mall, Dalma Mall, Mushrif Mall, and Khalidiyah Mall.
DCT Abu Dhabi, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi International Airport, also offered complimentary luxury dining vouchers from Aqua restaurant, CuiScene restaurant, Olea, The Café, Mezzaluna, Origins and Sofra Bld. to Saudi nationals/Saudi passport-holders to mark the occasion. Saudi drivers coming into Abu Dhabi were also greeted at the Ghuwaifat border in the Al Dhafra region and Soqor Almagabeel Cultural Performers greeted Saudi visitors at the arrivals hall of Abu Dhabi International Airport on September 21st.
Malls in the emirate celebrated with Saudi traditional performances (Al Ardah) performed in Abu Dhabi city and Al Ain region.
