Job Description For Director of Sales & Marketing
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops strategic marketing plan for property, includes group, leisure and local efforts while managing marketing and sales budget throughout year.
- Ensures that property is following all corporate marketing and sales guidelines.
- Identify and solicit sources of business.
- Responsible for the implementation of the hotel’s sales plan, to encompass direct sales calls, telesales, research, appointment making and taking part in promotional campaigns, client familiarization visits and contract negotiation.
- Evaluates new marketing opportunities for the property using knowledge of market trends and target customer information to maximize revenue
- Responsible for evaluating the performance of property’s branded website and give suggestions for promoting and improving the presence of the hotel on the web, with the intention of increasing number of bookings and keeping the website up to date
- Monitor, implement and execute the active presence of the property on all Social Media tools to maximize the online exposure of the property
- Identifying and evaluating new marketing opportunities to monitor the online presence as well as rate position of immediate competitors
- Utilizing a range of techniques including paid search, SEO and PPC, develop and increase traffic through direct and semi-direct online channels
- Develops marketing plan that addresses the distribution of rate offers, packages and programs designed to build occupancy.
- Develops brochure and property collateral materials and participates in all property imaging work (e.g., signage).
- Keeps track of actual versus planned marketing budgets and provides input and recommendations as needed regarding reallocation of funding.
- Provides regular tracking/ROI and analysis of promotions and website/email campaigns, using industry averages for ROI calculation, and uses this knowledge in future planning.
- Tracks return on investment (ROI) of all marketing initiatives, including online, direct mail and print advertising.
- Respond to enquiries/requests for group and catering business in a timely manner.
- Build rapport with customers through thank-you letters and follow up calls to increase repeat business opportunities.
- To participate in Hotel Sales Blitz and Regional Golden Tulip Hotels and Resorts Sales Meetings
General Responsibilities

To generally promote and ensure good inter-departmental relations.
Promotes and maintains good communications in order to build and maintain the prestigious image of the hotel.
Keeps detailed files and records on all matters relative to property's marketing materials.
Compile a detailed monthly report on Sales activities with copies to all relevant departments.
Adhere to all hotel fire, health and safety regulations.
