Manuel Gastelum appointed store manager ahead of Jones The Grocer JBR opening
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, August 2022, Australian gourmet grocer and café Jones the Grocer, opening a new licensed venue this year in partnership with Delta Hotels by Marriott, Jumeirah Beach, has hired its new store manager.
Gastelum steps into Jones The Grocer JBR as part of the pre-opening team handling all aspects of full service, training, retention, F&B costs, labour costs, training, and policy management.
“It makes me tremendously happy to lead the opening of such an exciting brand like Jones the Grocer at one of the best locations in Dubai. I’m certain this new store will soon become a residents’ favourite in JBR.” says Gastelum.
Before joining Delta Hotels by Marriott, Jumeirah Beach, he opened Senor Pico in 2020, quickly becoming one of Dubai’s favourite Mexican joints on the Palm.
Gastelum graduated from Universidad del Valle de Mexico with a bachelor’s degree in International Management of Tourism, Hospitality, and Culinary Arts. He started his career at the Intercontinental Suzhou in China before joining the world-famous Trader Vic’s family at their San Francisco Bay area headquarters, where he trained to become an Executive Sous Chef.
Gastelum ventured around the globe to places such as The Seychelles, Tokyo, and Abu Dhabi for several task force projects and eventually became the Chef Manager at Trader Vic’s Bangkok, the best riverside restaurant.
