Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort Welcomes Three Acclaimed Chefs to the Culinary Team

Dubai, 2024: Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort is thrilled to announce the appointment of three distinguished chefs to the celebrated team at the beachfront resort. With a firm commitment to elevating the resort’s exceptional dining experiences, the addition of Chef Anastasios Karagiannidis as Executive Sous Chef, Chef Therdpong Khunwiset as Chef de Cuisine in Mekong, and Chef Kang Yu as Chinese Specialty Chef in Mekong further enriches the bounty of culinary talent at the resort.

Chef Kang Yu secured his first role with Anantara in March 2024, bringing over 12 years’ specialised experience in Chinese cuisine. He began his career in the Sichuan province of his home country, transferring to Dubai with Shangri-La Hotels in 2015. With his vast experience and knowledge of opening five-star restaurants in Dubai, he will play a vital part in crafting and enhancing the Chinese cuisine offered at Mekong with authenticity.

Over the past 15 years, Chef Therdpong Khunwiset has honed his skills through various restaurants in Thailand and the UAE, joining Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort in late June 2024. His expertise at managing kitchen operations has been highlighted during his tenure at well-respected restaurants such as Sensasia in Fujeirah and Sukhothai at Le Meridien Airport Hotel in Dubai. Chef Therdpong’s profound knowledge of Thai and Asian cuisines makes him a perfect fit for the role of Chef de Cuisine at Mekong.

Joining Anantara for the first time on 1 July 2024, Chef Anastasios Karagiannidis assumes the role of Executive Sous Chef. His impressive career includes Chef de Cuisine roles in both London and Dubai, spending eight years with Mandarin Oriental before joining the team at Atlantis Royal Dubai. Chef Anastasios passion for growth and successful record in dynamic environments is set to make him a valuable asset in his new position at Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort.
